Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua's record in promoting sports and talent speaks for itself, Education, Youths, Sports and Culture Cabinet executive Francis Mathea has said.
The CeC said upgrading of different sporting facilities and funding all sub-counties were among visible initiatives that should be applauded.
"All sub-counties have received Sh500 million each that should trickle to all wards to promote talent and sports. We are making follow ups to ensure these monies are not wasted," he said.
According to Mathea, specific primary and secondary schools have been earmarked where their play grounds, a majority of which are also used by the neighbouring communities will be rehabilitated.
"After refurbishing Afraha stadium in October last year, community grounds and specific school grounds are in our plans," he said.
He spoke Friday at the national library service American corner during the governor's engagement forum in the ongoing county Youth week.
He also revealed that in conjunction with foreign donors, the county was in the process of building modern stadiums in Naivasha and Kuresoi North.
"Our vision is to use sports as a uniting factor for our people because having worked elsewhere, Nakuru is not an exception. Together we will achieve it," the CeC added.
He urged city residents to use the city volleyball and indoor games facilities for bonding and interaction purposes.
