Acting Interior Secretary Fred Matiang’i has taken a swipe at the opposition NASA coalition, accusing them of attempting to engender politics of anarchy.
Addressing Regional Coordinators and County Commissioners on Monday, the CS said there is a clear law that guides individuals and institutions on all matters.
Matiang’i, who is the chair of security committees, attended the meeting to address the issue of security ahead of the poolls scheduled for Thursday.
“There is no single part of our constitution that has been abrogated, we have not abandoned any of our laws; the Public Order Act was mended in 2016 and it is very clear,” he said.
He added: “Some of those attempting to subvert the institutions are the ones who enacted the Elections Act and they understand the Penal Code.
He further said that inhibiting IEBC officials to conduct the voting exercises is going against the law, and is punishable according to the electoral laws.
Matiangi further urged the officers to conduct and act within the law, saying they will not allow anyone to disrupt the peace that the country enjoys.
