Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has joined ongoing debates to have Simba Arati installed as Gusii spokesperson.
And in unlikely statement on Friday, Matiang'i rubbished decision to install Arati, adding that Senator Sam Ongeri of Kisii was suitable for the seat.
"I am hearing people pushing for installation of someone as spokesman. We have competent elders like Ongeri who can do the job.
"He has the integrity and zeal to speak on behalf of us. I am not forcing anyone to adopt my idea but he is the most suitable," he said without making direct reference to Arati.
On Saturday, a faction of Gusii residents continued with their push to have Arati installed, adding that preparations were on top gear.
"We are at advanced stages and the idea is unstoppable. He has shown his ability and nothing will stop us from installing him," said Beavon Magare, one of steering committee leaders.
