Despite Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i's appeal to end strike, lecturers have vowed to press-on.
Universities Academic Staff Union (Uasu) maintained that the strike would continue until the government implements the 2013-2017 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
In a circular, Uasu secretary general Constantine Wasonga said the National Executive Committee considered Matiang'i's request to suspend the ongoing strike till February 28, 2017, to pave way for negotiations..
He said the Council resolved that the strike would not be suspended.
''During the strike there should be no lectures, invigilation of exams, marking of exams, practicals, supervisions, field work and all work-related activities. When our employer refuses to perform its legal obligation to bargain, we have a right to industrial action as enshrined under Article 41 of the Kenyan Constitution,'' read the circular in part.
