Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i was on Monday caught dishing money to Kisii town residents ahead of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s tour.
The tough speaking minister is in charge of Uhuru’s campaigns and his hard work was rewarded when he was temporarily appointed cabinet secretary in charge of security.
And in morning hours, hundreds of Jubilee politicians were seen in Kisii town mobilizing supporters to join a rally in Gusii stadium minutes before the president’s entry.
Among those who were seen issuing campaign materials and money were Matiang’i, despite being an electoral malpractice.
Also in the group were Nyaribari Chache MP Richard Tong’i, Jimmy Angwenyi of Kitutu Chache North, Senator Chris Obure and other local leaders.
Earlier, there was confusion over which political party was supposed to hold the rally, given that NASA had not made their decision to cancel Odinga’s tour public.
During his address in town, President Uhuru Kenyatta exuded confidence that he will beat his challengers in the August elections.
Matiangi is the chief campaigner for Uhuru and has for sometime been holding mega rallies that also involves professions in Kisii.
