Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i has clarified that there is no curfew in Nairobi today (Monday) January 29th to tomorrow (Tuesday) January 30th.
The CS made the remarks in response to a fake letter doing rounds on social media indicating that there will be a curfew in some parts of Nairobi.
On a Facebook post on Monday, the CS called on all Nairobi residents to go about their businesses as usual without apprehension.
"The Public is advised to ignore contents of this document which is being circulated on social media. The Government has NOT issued such a directive, and urges all to go about their business without apprehension," posted Matiang'i.
In the letter, the curfew allegedly affects Nairobi county alone and no one is expected to move from 10.00 pm on Monday, January 29th to 6.00pm Tuesday, January 30th.
The fake letter further points out that movement will only be allowed through a 'permit granted by one's respective Deputy County Commissioner'.
The letter, dated Monday January 29th, also calls on residents to remain indoors in residences they reside in or at such other areas they may be authorized.
