Acting Interior Secretary Fred Matiang’i is holding a meeting with regional coordinators and county commissioners to discuss the state of the security ahead of the Thursday polls.

“I am satisfied that we are ready to repeat what we did in August. Many will say many things, but credit is due to you for the support you gave IEBC and we ended up with a very peaceful election,” said Matiang’i.

He added: “So I’m asking you colleagues again let us do it again on Thursday, we support IEBC to ensure they run a peaceful election. I am however concerned about an emerging behavior in our country of attempting to attack institution or engagnder the poltics of anarchy,” he added.

Security is a major area for the polls, with cases of IEBC officials chased away in areas where NASA has a huge support base.

Speaking at the same event, Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet sought to encourage the officers to do their best and deliver for Kenya.

“You’re also aware that immediately after the Thursday polls, we have the task of securing the national administration, and also to support KNEC in ensuring that examinations are done in safe and secure environment,” said Boinnet.

“I wish to say that we (national security sector), owe our people to provide a safe and secure environment to enable those who wish to vote to do so in a peaceful environment, and those who wish not to vote, are given the space to do that,” he added.
