Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has expressed his dissatisfaction on the ongoing voter registration exercise in Gusii region after IEBC statistics showed a rather dismal turn up in the first two weeks.
Speaking at Ibeno, Nyaribari Chache Constituency, Matiang’i urged members of the community to turn out in large numbers and register as voters to boost their bargaining power.
“We must turn out in large numbers to register as voters. If we want to have a bigger say in matters of governance in this country,” said Matiang’i
“This is the only way to increase our bargaining power in the national government,” added Matiangi.
The tough minister said the exercise could turn to be a political liability to the entire community in future governments.
“In order for us to have a say in government of the day, our voter numbers and participation during the elections will play a major role. I urge all eligible voters to take advantage of the coming polls to secure the community’s destiny,” Matiang'i insisted
