Despite addressing several stop overs in company with President Uhuru Kenyatta, Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has sensationally dissociated himself from political activities.
Although no law disallows him from engaging in politics, Matiang’i maintains that his duty as minister does not entail politicking.
Ironically, Mating’i accompanied Kenyatta during his two day trip in Gusii that culminated on Wednesday and urged the Gusii community to vote Kenyatta.
“It is a lie that I usually attend political rallies. I do not remember attending one. That is just mere propaganda spoiling my reputation,” he told Egesa FM on Thursday.
Matiang’i further said: “I usually attend very constructive activities but not rallies. The president was issuing compensation to IDPs and definitely that is not a rally.”
Despite rarely taking on political platforms, Matiang’i has been spearheading Kenyatta’s campaigns in Gusii by touring local schools.
Sources privy to Jubilee campaigns also reveal that he is in charge of political activities in the vote rich region.
