Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has dismissed claims that he has been asked to step down from government over police brutality by his father – in – law.
For several weeks, a section of social media users in New Nyamira Facebook page claimed that the CS was asked to tone down by the family members.
“There is no such directive and I want to assure you that the family is happy with what the CS is doing,” said John Matiang’i, a brother to the embattled minister.
Moments to presidential repeat elections, Amnesty International claimed that over 33 people have died since controversial August elections.
And with opposition leaders pointing fingers at Matiangi and IG Joseph Boinet, Matiang’i has insisted that he is being guided by the rule of law.
“All they do is just blaming the police without even investigating what the police force goes through. I am doing my work within the law and nothing can stop me,” he said at a past interview.
Last week, news spread in social media that his house was set ablaze, a claim he vehemently denied later in multiple interviews.
