Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has explained why Kenyans are losing jobs in what seems to be a jibe directed to his bosses.
According to Matiang’i, the government has not succeeded in creating more jobs for youths because of illicit trade at border points, increased corruption, tribalism and insecurity.
Speaking at Busia border point in Busia County on Wednesday morning, Matiang’i reiterated that the Ministry of Interior will not condone cartels bringing fake products into the country.
“Illicit trade at border points has affected the government in efforts to create more jobs for youths. It is time we should step up efforts to ensure no fake products enters the country,” he said.
He said some individuals are busy stealing public funds instead the funds can be used to be given to youths to start small business thus creating self-employment.
Matiang’i assured that police will do everything possible to ensure there is tight security across the country for business people to transact their business without any difficulties.
“Insecurity and tribalism must come to an end to ensure people are given jobs without tribal consideration.
"Corruption must be dealt with as by the rule of law so that we can utilize the available public resources to improve the lives of our people,” he added.
