Education CS Fred Matiang'i has again extended the contract of Moi University acting VC Prof Laban Ayiro for another six months.
This is the second time Matiang'i extends the contract, a move that will give room to the the newly appointed council to start a process to recruit a substantive Vice-chancellor.
Matiang'i appointed Ayiro to the position in September last year following the expiry of the terms of retired VC Prof Richard Mibey.
He was given three months in office, a term that was reviewed in December and extended for three more months.
Ayiro's appointment caused an uproar in September, prompting a section of leaders from the region to storm the institution in protest over appointment of 'an outsider' VC.
