Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has said head teachers whose schools are involved in examination cheating will be sacked.
Mr Matiang’i said school heads will be held accountable for exam irregularities in their schools as the Ministry of Education seeks to streamline the education sector.
Mr Matiang’i said the name of the country has been destroyed globally due to increased cases of examination leakages, adding that the vice must be curbed.
Speaking in Mombasa during this year’s Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association’s 41st conference at Wild Waters, the Education CS said the new examination board that was appointed this year will ensure cases of exam cheating are not reported this year.
“It is a shame that more than five decades after independence our schools are still involved in examination leakages. This is unacceptable,” said the CS.
“You must prepare your students well for the exams and avoid the short-cuts. If you are such a school head who is involved in exam cheating, you have no business sitting among upright colleagues,” he added.
Mr Matiang’i faulted the teachers for not reporting their colleagues who are involved in exam malpractice.
