Education CS Fred Matiang’I has said that his ministry will continue cleaning the rot that has dogged the ministry for a long time now.

Speaking to journalists on Thursday morning, Matiang’I said the system has never been clear on many issues, and it is time to bring some order in the sector.

“We are bringing order, and coordination, and proper management to the certifications process in Kenya, so that going forward, everyone knows a Diploma represents x,” he said.

He added: “Two critical issues that we must pay attention, the framework we are developing, we review it every four years,”

According to the no-nonsense CS, parents are suffering not knowing what will become of their children once they clear school.

It was during the forum that Matiang’I announced the good news to many that Diploma holders will now easily access university education.

From the programme, Diploma holders will join as second years in universities, a major reprieve to those who are not able to qualify to join public universities.

The CS has been on a clean-up exercise in the education sector, starting with ensuring there is no cheating in examinations.

Last week, his ministry released KCPE exam results, coming only 19 days after the pupils sat for their last paper.
