Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi will on Tuesday unveil Borabu aspiring MP Patrick Osero, who is expected to decamp from ODM to Jubilee Party.
The outspoken CS will attend the function scheduled to take place in Matutu, which will also invite several other aspirants to President Uhuru Kenyatta’s party.
However, his political tour in Kisii comes amid crisis in the education sector that has seen university students go months without lectures.
“We shall have Matiangi as a chief guest because he is a key Jubilee player from this region. He will usher in a number of politicians expected to ditch other parties for ODM,” said John Mogambi, a close ally of Osero.
Mogambi further said: “I don’t see the reason why that should bother anyone. We have seen ODM receive defectors and that is quite similar to what he is going to do.”
Even though the government reportedly offered striking lecturers an offer, their officials have remained defiant accusing Matiangi of ‘boardroom’ deals.
And due to the standoff, students are unlikely to resume their studies this semester given that it’s now slightly half underway.
