Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has asked foreigners whose citizenship has been lost to apply for the documents afresh.
According to the Matiang’i, foreigners without valid citizenship documents are a security threat and should be arrested.
“As government we will not condone foreigners staying in this country without valid documents. Foreigners are advised to visit immigration offices to apply for the citizenship documents failure to which they will be arrested and locked up,” he said.
The cabinet secretary warned immigration department officials against laziness and demanding for bribes in the processing of the citizenship.
“Foreigners should not give bribes to the immigration officials to have the documents processed for them.
"Any official demanding for bribes should be reported to authorities for a legal action to be taken,” he added.
