Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has lauded Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya for his effort to better education standards in his county.

Speaking when he met education stakeholders and political leaders from the Coast region in Mombasa on Wednesday, Dr. Matiang'I said that Kwale County's elaborate and exemplary effort in matters education is used by the Ministry of Education as case study.

"I wish to thank Kwale County Government led by Governor Salim Mvurya for its elaborate plans to better the standards. The Ministry (of education) is using Kwale as a case study," said Dr. Matiang'i who also doubles up as Interior CS.

While reacting to the CS's recognition, Mvurya said that he would dedicate his effort not only to improve the education standards in Kwale but Coast region in general.

Mvurya who was reelected for a second term during the 2017 general election has been consistently ranked as one of the top performing governors in the country. His focus has been in the field of education with his Kwale having been ranked poorly in national exams over the past few years. But the Governor is determined to change that. He has increased bursary allocations to all secondary schools-going children.
