Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i insists that he is a law abiding government officer, going about his duties, reports the Sunday Nation.
For weeks now, Matiang'i has come under scathing attack from a section of the public who accuse him of using excessive powers.
But in an interview with the Nation, Matiang'i maintained that he has been operating within the confines of the law.
"When I was in the ICT, people said I was turning the clock to Moi days and that I was draconian," he said.
"This is the most liberal government you can think of. I am operating with the confines of the law and that is a fact," he added.
Self-proclaimed NASA general Miguna Miguna, in his first interview since his deportation, accused Matiang'i of violating the law of the country.
Since the August elections, opposition supporters have been accusing Matiang'i of implementing orders against the constitution.
