[Photo|Tuko]Education Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang’i on Thursday caused laughter at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) narrating how a governor used false certification to get to office. He revealed how the aspirant tricked the national poll body and the public into believing that he was a graduate with a degree from a Costa Rica university during the 2013 general elections. ''Not very long ago a person wanted to vie for governor and produced a degree certificate from a university in Costa Rica and obviously, the document's content could not be translated immediately. In the meantime, he managed to convince the polls body that he was certified and was cleared before making his way to office,'' said Matiang'i.He said that things turned around when upon the translation, it was established that the supposed degree was a completely different document.''When the document was finally translated, it was discovered that it was a certificate of participation for an evangelical service and by that time, the individual was comfortably in office,'' said the CS who did not, however, disclose the politician's identity.Matiangi’ was stressing the government's commitment to end false certification which has led to unqualified people joining the workforce in the public and private sectors using fake documents.
