Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama has been having torrid moments ever since he took over in 2013 due to sharp, irreconcilable political differences with a host of elected leaders from the county who oppose his way of management.

But on Sunday, the Borabu born educationist urged area leaders to put their political differences aside and work for the common good of people.

“I am not a politician but I think I have a right to comment on of social-economic and geopolitical issues on our county as a technocrat. As one of you, I am disappointed with endless political intrigues in our county leadership,” Matiangi said.

“As leaders, do not allow your political differences to override development. The interest of poor innocent voters should come first and that is what you have to do,” he added.

He challenged area leadership to embrace dialogue on matters development to reduce hostility witnessed among them, and cautioned them against dividing area residents along their clans.

“Dialogue is the best way to go. Leadership squabbles cannot be solved on public podiums. As leaders we must work for the benefit of our people,” he said.

“Before devolution, I never used to hear or see people discriminated because of their clans. As leaders, let us not incite residents against other clans. After all, we all come from Nyamira and that is the most important thing,” said Matiang’i.
