Abdulswamad Nassir claims acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has assumed roles of two powerful individuals who helped retired President Daniel Moi assert his authority for long.
Moi’s regime ended in 2002 having served two terms of five years after the repeal of section 2A of the old constitution that paved way for multiparty democracy.
And accusing President Uhuru Kenyatta of reintroducing dictatorship, Nassir has likened Matiang’i to Okiki Amayo and Hezekiah Oyugi.
“It is now clear that Matiang’i is now misused by the regime to impose non existing bans on the people of Kenya,’ he said, shortly after police in Mombasa overpowered NASA protestors.
He added; “I am seeing Amayo and Oyugi being manifested in him. It is unacceptable and he should know that event kingdoms collapse.”
While Oyugi was long serving Permanent secretary, Amayo was a disciplinarian within KANU party and de-whipped even MPs allied to Moi’s regime.
Matiang’i has come under immense pressure following his decision to ban protests within Central Business Districts of Nairobi, Kisumu and Mombasa.
