Education CS Fred Matiang'i has remained firm that the proposed changes in the education curriculum in the country will go on as planned.
While dismissing claims that the implementation of the new curriculum was hanging in the balance, the CS said the process is on course as designed.
He was speaking in Nairobi on Wednesday after a meeting with the KICD National Steering Committee.
he noted that the 2-6-6-3 curriculum was based on competence and that its design followed wide consultations from stakeholders as well as detailed research.
"I have seen reports in the media indicating the new curriculum is hanging in the balance. I categorically say there is nothing like hanging. The plan for the implementation remains as drawn," he said as reported by the Star.
"For the last two years, the steering committee has been in wide consultations. So far we have already trained 170,000 teachers on materials for grades one and two," he said.
He added that the second phase of the project will be rolled out in some 33,000 public schools before the national conference August this year.
The full implementation, he said, will come in 2019.
