Acting Education CS Fred Matiang’i has ordered for heightened efforts to crack down on politicians and residents blocking newly appointed school principals from reporting to their workstations.
Speaking during a Friday meeting at the Kenya School of Government in Nairobi, Matiang'i said the trend of opposing teachers must be brought to an end.
“This nonsense must stop. We have lived with this backward behaviour for far too long. If we allow this behaviour to continue, then we might start having cases where MCAs will be dictating to us who the OCS (officer commanding the police station), county commissioners of even regional commissioners should be,” he said.
“The government will not rescind the decision. They can throw as much tantrums as possible because we are not going to change our mind,” he added.
He also directed the blame to some of the principals saying they had taken a hand in offering resistance.
Matian'gi said the old principals feared that the vices they had committed during their expired terms would be unearthed by the new bosses.
