[Photo|@ntvkenya]Acting Interior and Coordination Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i has dismissed claims that some Kenyans are moving to their ancestral homes in fear of violence. There have been reports and leaflets that Kenyans in urban areas are fleeing to their ancestral homes, possibly upcountry, ahead of the August 8 polls, to be secure, and avoid being caught up in case violence erupts after elections results announcementSpeaking in Kisumu, alongside Defense Cabinet Secretary Raychelle Omamo, Matiang'i said "nobody is leaving to anywhere".He termed the claims as rumours, adding that residents in Kisumu were living in harmony, as confirmed by the county commissioner.According to Matiang'i security has been enhanced to ensure zero cases of violence, hence no need of leaving for ancestral homes. His statement comes after Nasa leaders Raila Odinga and Musalia Mudavadi urged Kenyans to stay wherever they are unless they are voters somewhere."I urge our supporters not to flee from your homes during the day of voting and fail to cast your ballot. I strongly condemn those spreading leaflets as a scare tactic," said Mudavadi, during Nasa campaign in Busia County, Friday."The police should provide security for all and ensure a peaceful election," he added.
