Speaking on Tuesday during an interview with Egesa fm, Mataingi said that a meeting will be convened soon to resolve the issue that has been criticised by Knut officials.

Matiang'i acknowledged that the new regulations banning non-academic activities on weekdays had raised concerns.

"We have received calls from teachers' unions and representatives about the new rules. I have thus asked TSC to convene a meeting to discuss the issue and build consensus," said Matiang’i

However, he did not mention when the meeting will take place.

Over the weekend, Knut secretary general Wilson Sossion said that the union will boycott the directive.
