Suspected thugs on Tuesday night broke into 3 houses in Chepilat area in Nyamira County and made away with household items valued at Sh100,000.
Confirming the incident, Nyamira County commissioner Isaiah Nakoru said police are trailing the thugs.
“The thugs broke into the houses whose owners are not living at home. The items the thugs stole include 3 television sets, 4 cooking gas among other items worth Sh100,000,” he said.
He said neighbors who were a sleep woke up on Wednesday morning only to notice that the thugs had stolen from the houses.
Nakoru said a security meeting will be held in the area to ensure police officers in the area intensifies security patrols in the area.
“I have instructed police officers serving in the area to patrol 24 hours in a day to keep off criminals from the region. Locals should also cooperate and provide information to police to ease the arrest of the thugs who have gone into hiding,” added Nakoru.
He warned local youths against joining gang groups saying their days are numbered.
