Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Fred Matiang’i has ordered the arrest and prosecution of politicians humiliating and preventing newly transferred head teachers from discharging their duties.Matiang’i who is also the acting Education CS, said the government will not allow politicians to invade and obstruct education policies in schools.Speaking when he met county commissioners and regional security coordinators at the Kenya School of Government in Nairobi on Friday,Matiang’i asked the police to be lethal and take action against people interfering with education.The CS said that politicians have no right to dictate how schools should be operated and managed, adding that government will not rescind on its decision to transfer secondary schools head teachers.“We are going to deal with them ruthlessly and anyone thinking that he or she will cause trouble in our schools should be ready to face the wrath of the law,” he said.The CS claimed that some politicians are opposing the head teacher’s transfers in order to maintain their chains of corruption.On Thursday, Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet ordered the immediate arrest of anyone found ejecting or inciting students and the public to reject the new head teachers.Some schools in the country have seen their newly posted head teachers ejected and denied access to the institutions.In Makueni, five MCAs were arrested on Thursday for allegedly brewing violence by blocking the entry of new principal Rose Kiragu who was transferred to St Joseph Girls High School from Kerugoya.The MCAs are expected to appear in court today (Friday).In West Pokot, Kapenguria Boys High school was closed indefinitely after students staged protests against the transfer of the school principal James Omayo to Makunga Boys in Trans Nzoia county.On Wednesday, some MCAs allegedly forced out a new principal posted to Kamusinga High school in Bungoma.The new principal Alex Maina was frog-marched from his office by some angry parents and politicians.The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has condemned the wave of attacks on new principals.NCIC boss Francis Ole Kaparo asked parents and politicians dissatisfied with head teachers transfers to engage the Teachers Service Commission.
