Private schools in the country might have a reason to smile if a proposal by Education CS Fred Matiang'i comes to effect.
Matiang'i said private schools could soon benefit from the examination fee waiver set by the government.
The CS also revealed that his ministry is working with the national Treasury to ensure students from both private and public schools benefit from the waiver.
Matiang'i who spoke at Pioneer School in Murang’a County during a thanks giving day, said the government is thinking of extending the same benefits to private schools so that students can feel equal.
He argued that children in private schools are also Kenyans who are entitled to benefit from public funds.
This comes after the Kenya Private Schools Association accused the government of discrimination.
The association maintains that the government should pay exam fees for both private and public schools candidates.
