A section of elders from Kisii county has now urged all leaders from Gusii region to unite and ensure they support their own such as Education CS Dr Fred Matiang'i to run for presidency come 2022 if they want to bring more development in the region.
According to the elders, the community has remained behind in terms of development and that's due to lack of unity among the elected leaders and self interest and they urged them to put the interest of the community first .
Led by Gusii culture head, Elijah Nyangaresi, during a press conference in a Kisii hotel, the elders said the community has been supporting various governments since independence only to get a raw deal that haven't fostered development and its high time they change their politics.
"Gusii region has been lagging behind due to lack of unity and now we want all leaders to unite and support one of our own such as Dr Fred Matiang'i to run for presidency come 2022 as that will see us realize the development agendas" said Nyangaresi
The elders said they will ensure that they bring the leaders from the region into a common pool and push for them to support Matiang'i come in 2022.
They said their agenda has been charged due to the recent move by jubilee failing to nominate former CIC chairman Charles Nyachae and they said they highly doubt if the jubilee government will be able to deliver their promises.
