Matiang’i observes that some of the courses being offered in some public and private universities have been approved by CUE.

Speaking during a conference on the status of the higher education at Kenyatta University in Nairobi on Monday, Matiang’i warned that stern action will be taken against such universities that contravene regulations.

He said that the Ministry has received a report detailing courses that are being offered yet they have not been approved.

“We are putting on notice public and private universities that introduce courses without following the laid down procedures,” he said.

He noted that some courses were being introduced by universities as a source of minting money at the expense of benefiting students.

The Education CS at the same time said that satellite campuses that had shut down by the CUE will not re-open until they adhere to the standards of operation.

He added that the government will not hesitate to shut down universities and colleges that flout regulations.
