According to Matiang’i, the protest will not scare him since he is doing everything possible to improve the security of people and their property not only in his home turf but also across the country.

“Some locals from Gusii region are out to protest over insecurity so that they can scare me and force me to resign.

"I wish to assure residents that my ministry does not condone crime and we are committed to ensure regions across the country have enough police officers to offer protection,” he said.

He accused local leaders from Gusii region for mobilizing locals to protest with an aim to taint his name.

"I am saddened that some local politicians are mobilizing residents to protest instead of helping the same people to venture into constructive activities.

"It is time leaders should shun inciting members of the public and join hands with the security team to end crime,” he noted.

He stated that unnecessary protests on roads will not help in ending crime.
