Cabinet Secretary for Education Dr. Fred Matiang’i has been receiving accolades from all quarters of the country and across the political divide for bringing sanity in the education sector.
His social media fans has declared him the Kenya’s Magufuli — after the equally no- nonsense President of Tanzania, with others urging him to run for President.
What many Kenyans don't know about the CS they have named as the Man of Year, is that he attributes his success to the former Cabinet Minister Simeon Nyachae whom he refers as his role model.
Speaking recently during a fund-raiser event in Nyaribari Chache constituency, Kisii County, Matiang’i said it is the powerful Kisii politician who has motivated leadership style.
“Mzee Nyachae is like my father, I am copying from his notes. He is a strict and straightforward person. I respect him so much as my role model having known him for more than two decades," acknowledged Matiang’i.
Matiang'i previously worked as a political consultant to the former Roads Minister. He managed his 2002 presidential campaign. The two are family relatives.
