Super Minister as he may be called, Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i is facing backlash from a region he has stayed throughout his life.
Recently, Jubilee leaders from Nyamira termed him 'tenant' and disowned his nomination to the powerful ministry, a sign that all is not well.
"We have competent natives from Nyamira who can take government jobs. Appointing tenants to represent us is unacceptable," said Joash Nyamoko, who represents North Mugurango.
But the internal war seems to escalate with now NASA politicians joining the bandwagon of treating him as an outsider.
ODM Youth League chairman Dennis Marube on Friday insisted Matiang'i should not speak on behalf of Nyamira people.
"He was not born here and we will not allow jobless youths to protest in his favour. We all know where he comes from."
Similar sentiments were echoed by NASA activist Samuel Okemwa, who upon receiving deported Miguna Miguna in Canada, joined Matiang'i's background debate.
"Matiang'i himself was not born in Nyamira yet he stays there. Nyamira people should demand for his eviction," he said.
Born in Kisii's South Mugirango, Matiang'i currently settles in former settlement schemes of Borabu in Nyamira.
