That some schools are charging more than the set Sh53,554 per year is unbelievable.

This is akin to stealing from parents. By arbitrarily increasing fees, the heads of the schools involved are thwarting the government's efforts to make basic primary and secondary school education accessible and affordable to all.

The government has been fulfilling its fair share of the commitment to offer free primary education and secondary education by pumping in money to make this a reality.

It is therefore very wrong for parents to dig deeper into their pockets even after the government has set aside Sh32.4 billion to facilitate learning in secondary schools.

Matiang'i should come to the parents rescue and stop this madness as soon as possible.
