Acting Interior CS Fred Matiang'i has broken his silence over an audio clip that surfaced linking him to the outlawed Chinkororo sect.
In the clip, the outspoken CS is heard threatening to unleash the group on people opposed to the just concluded presidential repeat polls.
"I am in charge of security. The youth who are here...if anyone tries to block you from voting, I can order police to look aside and you rough them up," he said.
The remarks have since sparked anger and outrage, especially from the Opposition wing NASA.
However, speaking on Thursday shortly after casting his vote, Matiang'i noted that he will not be distracted by politics in the discharge of his duties.
"Have you seen them? Have you seen anyone here? I have decided deliberately that I will not be dragged into politics and I will not be annoyed," he said.
"...those things are being done to annoy, distract and frustrate me from the work I am doing. I have chosen not to be distracted so I will not concentrate on those things I want to do my work...I don't want to be distracted," he added.
