Speaking in Kakamega after a security meeting on Wednesday, Matiangi said while most of the rapist were well-known to the community, they had been left to go scot-free without any action taken against them.

“We are going to carry out a crackdown right from the village level to arrest the suspects, and anyone who will be a stumbling block to our efforts to ensure justice is achieved will meet with the full force of the law,” said the CS.

The no-nonsense CS also warned chiefs and elders against resolving sexual abuse cases out of court which has enable perpetrators go on with the habit.

"The chiefs and elders should ceased from resolving sexual abuse out of court because this is making the perpetrators escape with no action taken against them, so any sexual abuse case should be done in court for proper action to be taken," he said.

The sexual abuse cases in the country have risen and this has been common in schools where girls have been raped by unknown people evident recently in Moi Girls, Nairobi.

The Principal Secretary for Education Belio Kipsang has since assured the country that security measures will be reviewed in all the schools countrywide.

“As a ministry we will do more to ensure that such cases do not happen again in our school, going forward sufficient measures will be put to guarantee that the safety and security of our students in schools is good,” he said.
