Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has interdicted six Siaya County education officers and dissolved the county's education board following the incident in which the county's examination papers were printed with the Governor Cornel Rasanga's photo.
In a statement on Wednesday, Matiang'i said the six bore the greatest responsibility over the matter that received widespread criticism from Kenyans on social media.
According to the CS, the Mock examination has been cancelled and schools advised to prepare internally set exams.
"In line with the Basic Education Act 2012, the ministry has taken the decision to dissolve and reconstitute the Siaya County Education Board," Matiang'i said on Wednesday.
He further asked the relevant authorities to nominate members into the new board with immediate effect.
The county has since denied that the display of the governor's portrait on the papers had nothing to do with the 2017 elections with the CeC Education Pamela Akello saying the move was meant to shield parents from being overcharged by schools.
