Moments after acknowledging personal relationship with outlawed Chinkororo sect, acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has been challenged to resign and submit an apology to Kenyans.

In a viral video clip circulating online, Matiang’i is heard threatening to use the outlawed sect to ‘deal’ with opposition demonstrators during a rally in Etago, South Mugirango this week.

“It is quite shameful that such a leader can go around praising a sect that was banned by the same government he is serving. He should apologize unconditionally,” said Sam Ongeri, Kisii senator.

A tough talking Matiangi had accompanied Deputy President William Ruto among other Jubilee leaders in the vote rich region on Tuesday.

Closely associated with former powerful minister Simon Nyachae, the sect was outlawed by Ex – Interior minister John Michuki over a decade ago.

“It is so manner less to call for bloodshed. I want to challenge him to retract the remarks and resign to safeguard his integrity,” added Kisii Governor James Ongwae.

Over a decade ago, Deputy President William Ruto was a causality of the sect when he was brutally attacked when campaigning for ODM at Nyamarambe.
