Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi has been urged to revise the high school fee structure by parents in Kisii who lamented that it was beyond their ability.
They claimed that with the hard economic times and many responsibilities they have the government should stand to protect them by lowering fees which they say is really high.
“High school education has become very expensive especially for the majority of lower class parents. Commodities at the shops are also very expensive which we still have to meet," said Christabel Onkwani.
"Our Cabinet Secretary, Matiangi should look into the matter to see that fee is reduced,” she said.
They said some of them have been forced to pull their children out from top performing schools due to lack of fees.
“Sometimes it gets hard and one is forced to pull out his child from boarding to day schools like I have done this term. I know the adverse effects of this but I have no otherwise,” said Margret Omullo.
They want the government to revise the fee structure to be more flexible for parents.
They have also accused some individual head teachers of hiking school fees which have made the life for both the parent and student hard.
