A section of youth leaders from Nyamira County have warned Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i against undermining the judiciary.
At an interview with a local newspaper, Matiang'i had accused the judiciary of being rogue and called for urgent surgery in coming days.
"Time has come for Kenyans to have a robust debate on judiciary. We are pretending to have a credible one while it is not," he said.
But the remarks have elicited strong reactions with leaders accusing Matiang'i of being used to sabotage Chief Justice David Maraga.
"His reckless remarks ideally targets to taint Maraga as a non-reformist. We have seen our judiciary perfoming quite well," said Dennis Marube, ODM Youth leader.
Youth Talk Africa President Beavon Magare said: "Matiang'i wants a judiciary which always ruled in favour of government. He should mind his business and stop dragging Maraga."
In a number of seminars, Maraga has insisted that the judiciary will not condone actions of disobeying court orders.
