Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has declared a war against MPs who catalyze inter-community violence and clashes at the county levels.
Speaking to the National Committee on Cohesion and equal opportunity on Thursday, Matiang’i said that he has dispatched a group of delegates country wide to map and identify those legislators escalating conflicts between communities at grassroots.
He also vowed that his ministry is going to fight hard on the police and administration who take sides in favor of rogue politician while undermining the poor who need justice.
“There has been violence incited by some leaders at grassroots. Let them know that this is not a banana republic and we will hunt them down. We know who is likely to cause problems and who is not,” he said.
He also addressed the issue of lands where he firmly told the meeting that was chaired by a nominated MP Maina Kamanda that his ministry will also hunt down unscrupulous land owners who buy companies that cause trouble in the region.
“We understand that the some politicians fuel squatters to cause conflict. The warlords also use the squatters to cause conflict," he added.
