Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has called on all stakeholders to get on board to ensure the new curriculum works as planned.
Speaking on Friday during the launch of distribution of books to schools, Matiang’I said for the ministry to achieve its targets, they needed to work together.
“We have discovered one thing that I would like to urge everyone, we do better and succeed when we are together, speak to one another and consult,” he said.
He further assured the country that the direction the country is taking the education sector was right, and it will only be a matter of time before it started bearing fruits.
“This is just the beginning, and we are achieving something that many countries have not, a 1:1 book ration in the country,” he added.
The ministry will be providing books to students joining form one, as a way of lessening the heavy burden that parents shoulder.
The ministry has undergone a transformation in the last one year, with the Matiangi led team introducing new programs in schools.
Among the programs is the phasing out of the 8-4-4 system, which will now be replaced with a skill-oriented system.
The curriculum will be rolled out this year, even though not all stakeholders are in agreement about its implementation.
