Speaking during a press conference Monday in Nairobi, Matiangi added that the 2017 elections will be the most historic in the history of the country owing to its credibility.

"This will be the most transparent and credible election in our country's history," he said.He added that security officers have not been deployed to polling stations to harm voters but simply to protect them. The Education CS further dismissed assertions that security officers had extraordinarily been deployed to oversee elections and maintained that the deployment was purely demand driven.Of interest however is the fact that the opposition Nasa have raised grave demands about the credibility of the polls barely hours before voting kicks off.Among the key issues raised by Nasa centred around the deployment of security officers across the country and lack of network coverage in some 11,000 pollling stations as claimed by the Iebc.
