The organising secretary for Kenya Plantation and Agricultural Workers Union Henry Omasire is the latest opinion leader who has supported a directive made by Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i's that there shall be no midterm holidays in public school as an effort of curbing examination irregularities.
In an interview on Thursday morning, Omasire said that the move will help in curbing national examination irregularities that in the recent past have been rampant in many schools countrywide.
"Truly, Matiang'i's move to ban midterm holidays and social functions in public school in third term is a great gesture because it will play an important role in curbing examination irregularities," said Omasire.
Omasire also challenged teachers and parents to embrace the new move since it is a way of helping in curbing cheating in national examinations.
"My urge to parents is to embrace the new set of rules for I know this will play a great role in curbing exam cheating and that will help us have credible examinations," added Omasire.
