The Kenya National Union of Teachers Chepkoilel branch secretary general Sammy Bor has urged the cabinet secretary for Education Fred Matiangi to do further consultation before merging neighboring schools Boards of Management (BOM).

He said the intention is ill intended and all stakeholders must be involved before it is effected.

"Every school has its own challenges, therefore, merging them under one principal will just complicate the matter. Schools resources will also be another issue," he said in Eldoret town, Monday.

"The Cs education should not be in a hurry in implementing this  directive since the directives are Ill intended

He should declare his interest and importance on the directives," he said in Eldoret town, Monday.

There must be a wider consultation before implementing the new directive.

"How can two schools BOM’s merge there will be overworking leading to poor results. Let the schools remain as they used to do," he added.

This comes after CS Education Fred Matiangi announced the Ministry, in liaison with Teachers Service Commission (TSC), will consolidate the management of such schools effective 2018 so that they will be under one Board of Management and run by an overall principal with a deputy for primary and another for secondary school.

His sentiments were echoed by the Busia branch Knut executive secretary Oseno Mark who termed it as out of order and ill-intended.

"As KNUT leaders we condemn such directives with the strongest terms possible since  3,000 head teachers and 3,000 board of members will lose their jobs,” noted
