John Matiang'i, a young brother to Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has rejected a job offer by Public Service.
Through a letter written in April, Matiang'i, who works as national treasurer of Kenya National Union of Teachers, asks Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua that he is committed.
It is said that President Uhuru Kenyatta's government and COTU have all along been keen to have the young Matiang'i in SRC, which is yet to be constituted.
"I thank you for your good offer and recognistion but I am afraid because I still have an active role in KNUT.
"I would have served as requested but for now I remain committed to serve my fellow teachers across the country," he says.
While his brother is actively involved in Kenyan politics, John however prefers a queit life despite his high profile position.
At KNUT, he is a close confidant of embattled Secretary General Wilson Sossion and is said to have mobilised Nyanza chapter in support of the ODM nominated MP.
"Both COTU and government wanted him at SRC but he is not willing. He rather prefers to work with teachers," said a source.
