As part of his quest to stamp authority in Gusii politics, Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has shifted his guns on Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati.
Several leaders from both Nyamira and Kisii Counties are pushing Matiang'i to go for the top seat and as part of the strategy, they now want to install him as Gusii community spokesperson.
Already, the position has been claimed by Arati, who has now been subjected to fierce political jibes by pro-Matiang'i camp.
"That man who was advised to be Gusii community spokesman by his wife should forget about it," said nominated senator Millecent Omanga.
She added: "Matiang'i is our de facto spokesman and anyone claiming the position is an imposter. The CS should be prepared to take DP post in 2022."
Multiple sources within the team pushing for Gusii unity intimates that the minister is keen to be crowned spokesperson in the near future.
The supremacy battles were ignited by Arati, who has since installed himself as spokesman in a function attended by hundreds of youths.
