The Ministry of Interior has warned Kenyans that a gazette notice that was purportedly signed by Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i declaring next Tuesday a public holiday is fake.
Matiang’I disowned the notice that has been doing rounds on social media platforms and urged Kenyans to disregard it.
The notice, which is dated 24th, says that the holiday is meant to accord Kenyans the opportunity to attend the inauguration of Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka as the peoples, president and deputy president.
The pair has planned for their inauguration as the people’s president to be held next week, on January 30, with the government warning against the move.
Last year, Attorney General Githu Muigai warned Odinga and Musyoka against carrying on with their plans, saying such a move was high treason, which was punishable by death.
However, NASA has continued with their push, and not even the notice that Uhuru Park will not be accessible then will deter them.
According to Norman Magaya, they will go on with the plans to hold the event at the grounds. A notice that was released on Tuesday indicated that Uhuru Park will be out of bounds, as it will be under renovation.
