Uncertainty welcomed the re-opening of schools on Tuesday across the country, with education stakeholders calling for the postponement of the rollout of the new curriculum.

With parents rushing to the bookshops to get new books and teachers readying for a change in the syllabus, it was a flurry of activities on the first day.

The Education CS Fred Matiangi is holding a consultative meeting today to chart a way forward on the new curriculum debate that has sparked debate across the country.

Speaking during the forum, which was held at KICD, Matiang’I said they have brought on board all education stakeholders in the changes.

“We have consulted far and wide, and we keep consulting. The journey continues and our readiness to roll out phase two fo the pilot that we were to roll out,” he said.

He added: “We have now commenced the roll-out activities of our curriculum as envisaged in our plan all along,”

He further thanked all stakeholders who have ensured all is put in place to provide a better education system.

He assured Kenyans that the exercise, which began in 2014, has been well researched and will yield the best results.

“Our plan on the new curriculum remain on course as drawn and planned on implementation,” he said.
