Matungulu Deputy County Commissioner Patrick Mwangi has ordered for a fresh crackdown of illicit brew in Tala and its environs.
Mwangi, who chaired a closed-door meeting of top security agents of the sub-county at Ngomeni primary school, was reportedly rattled by the return of illicit brews particularly in villages around Tala town, Matungulu’s commercial capital.
The DC lamented that the prevalence of illicit brews within Katine sub location had led to massive erosion of family and social values and urged chiefs and their assistants to be more vigilant.
He also asked the police to work closely with the chiefs to apprehend the culprits, saying that most perpetrators of the vice are known to them.
Mwangi said he would ‘personally’ lead the raids to the brewing dens and warned those involved that the long arm of the law would soon catch up with them.
In the past few days, the number of people from the said area who are being charged in courts for either making illicit brew of being in possession of it has significantly increased.
